This Privacy Policy applies to the Love Local Long Island website, business directory, business profiles, forms, email communications, and related online services, collectively referred to as the “Site.”

By using the Site or submitting information through the Site, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us and certain information automatically when you use the Site.

When you create, claim, submit, or update a business profile, you may provide information including your name, email address, business name, business address or service area, phone number, website, business description, categories, services, hours, social media links, photos, logos, and other information about your business.

We may also collect information you provide when you contact us, submit a form, respond to an email, or otherwise communicate with Love Local Long Island.

When you visit the Site, certain technical information may be collected automatically. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, actions taken on the Site, and the date and time of your visit.

This information may be collected through cookies, pixels, tags, server logs, analytics software, security services, and similar technologies.

2. Email Addresses

The email address you provide when creating or claiming a Love Local Long Island business profile is used as private contact information.

We do not display your email address on your public business profile.

We may use your email address to verify or administer your business profile, communicate with you about your listing, respond to requests, provide service notices, send reminders related to your profile, and send Love Local Long Island newsletter and marketing communications as described below.

We do not sell or rent our email list to third parties.

3. Newsletter and Email Communications

When you create, claim, or submit a free business profile through Love Local Long Island, the email address you provide is also added to the Love Local Long Island email newsletter.

The newsletter may include local business news, Love Local Long Island updates, marketing resources, business opportunities, promotions, new Site features, and other information we believe may be useful to local business owners.

You can unsubscribe from marketing and newsletter emails at any time. Unsubscribing ends your participation in the free business profile program, and your profile will be removed from the directory.

If you unsubscribe from the Love Local Long Island newsletter, your business profile will also be removed from the directory. An active email subscription is required to maintain a free business profile.

Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still send you administrative or service-related communications when necessary. These may include messages about your business profile, profile verification, requested changes, account security, or other matters related to your use of the Site.

4. Public Business Profiles

Love Local Long Island operates a public directory of Long Island businesses.

Information that you provide for your business profile may be displayed publicly on the Site. This may include your business name, business address or service area, phone number, website, business description, categories, services, hours, social media links, photos, logo, and other information provided for the listing.

Email addresses used to create or claim a profile are not displayed publicly.

Public business profile information can be viewed by visitors to the Site and may also be indexed by search engines such as Google and Bing.

Search engines and other third parties may cache, archive, copy, or otherwise retain information after it has been published. Removing or changing information on Love Local Long Island therefore does not guarantee that older versions will immediately disappear from search engines, archives, or third-party websites.

You should submit only business information that you are comfortable making publicly available.

5. How We Use Information

We use information collected through the Site to operate and maintain Love Local Long Island.

This includes creating and maintaining business profiles, processing profile claims, verifying submissions, communicating with business owners, responding to questions, sending newsletters, promoting Love Local Long Island, improving the Site, understanding how visitors use the Site, preventing spam and abuse, maintaining security, measuring marketing effectiveness, and complying with legal requirements.

We may also use public business information to organize, categorize, feature, promote, or otherwise operate the Love Local Long Island directory and related marketing channels.

6. Cookies, Analytics, Advertising and Tracking

Love Local Long Island uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, understand how visitors use it, maintain security, measure marketing activity, and promote Love Local Long Island.

Business profiles may contain links to business websites, social media accounts, booking services, online stores, maps, and other websites or services that Love Local Long Island does not operate.

We are not responsible for the privacy or data practices of those third parties.

Once you leave Love Local Long Island or interact directly with a third-party service, the privacy policy and terms of that third party apply.

11. Updating or Removing a Business Profile

Business owners may request corrections or changes to information displayed on their business profiles.

Depending on the features available on the Site, you may be able to update your profile directly or contact Love Local Long Island to request an update.

You may also request that a business profile be removed.

Removing your business profile does not automatically unsubscribe your email address from the Love Local Long Island newsletter. You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails using the unsubscribe link included in those messages.

If you unsubscribe from the Love Local Long Island newsletter, your business profile will be removed from the directory. Maintaining an active business profile requires remaining subscribed to the Love Local Long Island email list.

We may retain limited records after a profile is changed or removed when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, recordkeeping, or Site administration.

12. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have certain rights regarding personal information.

You may contact Love Local Long Island to ask about personal information associated with you, request that inaccurate information be corrected, request deletion of certain information, request changes to your business profile, or ask questions about how your information is used.

We may need to verify your identity or your authority to act on behalf of a business before completing certain requests.

Some information may be retained when permitted or required by law.

13. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Love Local Long Island, maintain business listings, communicate with business owners, send requested or permitted communications, maintain appropriate business records, protect the Site, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods depending on why the information was collected and how it is used.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information maintained by Love Local Long Island.

No website, database, or Internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Business profiles are not intended for sensitive personal information. Do not submit Social Security numbers, financial account information, passwords, government identification numbers, health information, or similar sensitive information through a Love Local Long Island business profile or general contact form.

15. Information About Other People

If you submit information about another person through a business profile or other part of the Site, you are responsible for having the authority or permission necessary to provide that information.

This includes photographs, employee information, customer information, testimonials, and other content that may identify another person.

16. Children’s Privacy

Love Local Long Island is intended for adults, business owners, and people looking for information about local businesses.

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Love Local Long Island changes, as we add new technology or services, or as legal requirements change.

When we update the policy, we will change the effective date shown at the top of this page.
