Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Love Local Long Island website, business directory, business profiles, and related services, collectively referred to as the “Site.”
By using the Site, submitting or claiming a business profile, or otherwise using Love Local Long Island services, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
1. About Love Local Long Island
Love Local Long Island is an online directory designed to help people discover businesses serving Long Island.
Businesses may create or claim a free business profile that contains information such as their business name, location or service area, phone number, website, description, services, hours, photos, social media links, and other business information.
Love Local Long Island does not operate, manage, employ, or represent the businesses listed in the directory.
2. Free Business Profiles and Email Subscription
Love Local Long Island provides eligible businesses with a free business profile as part of our email subscriber community.
To maintain a free business profile on Love Local Long Island, the business owner or authorized representative associated with the profile must remain subscribed to the Love Local Long Island email list.
When you submit or claim a free business profile, the email address you provide will be added to the Love Local Long Island newsletter as explained in our Privacy Policy.
You may unsubscribe from the email list at any time.
If you unsubscribe, your free business profile will also be removed from the Love Local Long Island directory.
There is no fee or penalty for unsubscribing.
Removing your business profile does not necessarily unsubscribe you from the newsletter. If you also want to stop receiving marketing emails, you must use the unsubscribe link provided in our emails or otherwise request that we unsubscribe you.
Love Local Long Island may change, suspend, or discontinue the free business profile program in the future.
3. Who May Submit or Claim a Business
You may submit or claim a business profile only if you are:
The business owner;
An employee authorized to act for the business; or
Another person who has permission to manage the business’s information.
By submitting or claiming a profile, you represent that you have authority to provide and manage the information associated with that business.
Love Local Long Island may request verification before approving a profile, making changes, or granting control of an existing listing.
4. Business Information
You are responsible for making sure the information you submit is accurate, current, and lawful.
This may include your business name, address, service area, phone number, website, business description, categories, services, hours, social media accounts, photographs, logos, and other information.
You agree not to submit information that:
Is false or misleading;
Impersonates another business or person;
Infringes another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
Contains unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or deceptive material;
Contains malware, harmful code, spam, or unauthorized advertising;
Includes sensitive personal information that is not appropriate for a public business directory.
Love Local Long Island may edit formatting, correct obvious errors, assign categories, or make other reasonable changes needed to display and organize business profiles.
We are not responsible for errors in information submitted by businesses or obtained from third-party sources.
5. Public Nature of Business Profiles
Love Local Long Island is a public website.
Information submitted for your business profile may be visible to anyone who visits the Site and may be indexed by Google, Bing, and other search engines.
Your account or signup email address is not displayed publicly.
Search engines and other third parties may retain cached or archived copies of information after it has been changed or removed from Love Local Long Island.

6. Content You Submit
You are responsible for all photographs, logos, graphics, text, videos, and other content you submit to Love Local Long Island.
By uploading or submitting content, you represent and warrant that:
You own the content or have all rights, licenses, permissions, and authorizations necessary to use and submit it;
Love Local Long Island may display and use the content as described in these Terms without infringing the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights of another person or business; and
The content does not violate any law or agreement that applies to you.
This includes photographs taken by photographers, marketing companies, employees, customers, manufacturers, vendors, or other third parties. The fact that you possess a copy of an image or that an image appears elsewhere online does not necessarily give you the right to publish it.
By submitting content, you grant Love Local Long Island a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, display, publish, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote Love Local Long Island and your business profile.
You retain any ownership rights you have in the content.
Love Local Long Island does not verify ownership or licensing rights for every item submitted by a business. You are responsible for confirming that you have the right to submit and publish the content you provide.
We may remove any content that we believe may infringe another person’s rights or otherwise violate these Terms.
7. Profile Approval and Removal
Submission of a business does not guarantee that Love Local Long Island will publish or maintain a profile.
We may reject, suspend, edit, or remove a business profile when we reasonably believe that:
The information is inaccurate;
The business does not serve the Long Island community;
The submission violates these Terms;
The profile is fraudulent or misleading;
The business is no longer operating;
The profile creates a security or legal concern;
The associated email address has unsubscribed from the Love Local Long Island email list; or
Removal is otherwise necessary to operate the directory.
We may also remove duplicate listings.
Business owners may request removal of their profiles at any time.
8. No Guarantee of Results
A Love Local Long Island profile does not guarantee website traffic, leads, customers, sales, search engine rankings, visibility, or any other business result.
Search engines, social platforms, visitors, and other third parties determine how they display and interact with information from the Site.
Love Local Long Island does not guarantee that the Site will always be available or that every profile will appear in a particular search result, category, position, or location.
9. No Endorsement of Listed Businesses
Listing a business on Love Local Long Island does not mean that Love Local Long Island endorses, certifies, guarantees, or recommends that business.
Visitors are responsible for evaluating a business before purchasing products or services.
Love Local Long Island is not a party to transactions between directory visitors and listed businesses.
Any agreement for products or services is between the customer and the business involved.
10. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Site may contain links to business websites, social media platforms, maps, booking systems, online stores, and other third-party services.
Love Local Long Island does not control these services and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, policies, products, or services.
Your use of third-party services is governed by the terms and policies of those providers.
11. Love Local Long Island Content
The Love Local Long Island name, website design, branding, graphics, written content, directory structure, and other material created by Love Local Long Island are owned by Love Local Long Island or used with permission.
You may use the Site to find and learn about local businesses.
You may not copy, scrape, reproduce, republish, sell, or use substantial portions of the directory or Site content to create another directory, database, mailing list, or commercial product without our permission.
12. Site Availability
We work to keep Love Local Long Island available and functioning properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
The Site may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, security issues, third-party services, or circumstances outside our control.
We may change, add, remove, or discontinue Site features at any time.
13. Disclaimer
Love Local Long Island provides the Site and directory on an “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, we make no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, or suitability of information appearing on the Site.
Business information may be supplied by business owners, public sources, third parties, or other sources and may change without notice.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Love Local Long Island will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from your use of the Site, your reliance on a business listing, interactions with a listed business, loss of a business profile, Site downtime, or third-party services.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be limited.
15. Responsibility for Your Submission
You are responsible for the information and content you submit to Love Local Long Island.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Love Local Long Island and its owners, operators, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from:
Content you submit;
A claim that content you submitted infringes another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
Your violation of these Terms; or
Your violation of applicable law.
This obligation applies to content you submit even if Love Local Long Island approved or published the business profile containing that content.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Love Local Long Island changes.
When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
If we make a material change affecting existing business profiles, we may also provide notice through the Site or by email when appropriate.
Continued use of Love Local Long Island after updated Terms take effect means the updated Terms apply going forward.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
